I had an epiphany while watching Sex and the City today.
I keep dating the same man. The same psuedo-intellectual.
Then I idealize him, making him into a super man that he is not.
I need to widen my horizon.
So here's who I won't be dating anymore:
Guys who call themselves straightedge
Opera singers
Dashingly handsome jazz bassists
....maybe I should just stay away from musicians in general. But I love musicians. They're so...romantic. In my idealized mind, I guess. My history with them isn't the best. But I'm attracted to them.
I should try opening my eyes to men who aren't artsy intellectual types. But the thing is that I'm so turned off by stupidity that if the guy doesn't strike me as intelligent the first time I see him, I hardly consider him attractive. I should just cut my judgmental nature in half. Because come on, I half to keep a good portion of it, otherwise I'll keep dating losers.

i say you need a man who is smart and likes music u like so if you wnated to go to a oncert he would attend and want to be there but I wouldnt have one whom is focuysed on it. I think you need one to support your passions but also a man u have not much alike so u both can learn new things about one another. learn new intrests and drive for things. I think you would be good with a funny guy who is smart who knows when to balance respect, honore, goofyness and laughter. He would one day be cuddling and ten min later be like lets drive and listen to hellogoodbye and end up in oshkosh at a park and play on swings. lol one you can get lost with make an adventure and build memories. i see a man who wants you to pursue you for you and loves u for it and yet has u grow in other ways. a man who is straight laced and yet that child fun side cause you will be old someday togetehr and you need laughter smiles and moments to keep you young. where you are 55 in the kitchen cooking and he smiles leans in says you are still beautiful andkisses your cheek. he is still playful to tap you on the butt and say hey gorgeous. lol it keeps your spirit young and passion alive and its not all mental but also suttle touches. Look around and notice the dont have to have ALL the qualities to the level you have but they enjoy them. Dont settle though. its a balance. you can do this
